Day 1 | Hometown - Beijing Top

Fly to Beijing from hometown. Cross the International Date Line.

Day 2 | Arrive Beijing (D)Top

Welcome to the capital of China! Your tour guide will greet you at the airport arrival hall and then transfer you to your hotel for a good night’s rest. A welcome dinner will be arranged for you in the evening (if your flight lands before 5 pm local time).

Day 3 | Beijing - Lhasa (B, L, D)Top

Take a morning flight to Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region since the 7th century. Although Lhasa is famous for being one of the highest cities in the world, what will astonish you here is the breathtaking beauty, unique landscape and the holy atmosphere of this religious center. After arrival, check into your hotel and take a good rest to get acclimatized to the high altitude.

Day 4 | Lhasa (B, L, D)Top

The first hint that you are entering the traditional capital of Tibet is the red and white Potala Palace, home to Tibet’s spiritual leaders- the Dalai Lamas since the 17th century. Then visit Tibet’s oldest temple, Jokhang Temple. Tibetan Buddhists aim to visit Lhasa as they are drawn by this sacred temple, which forms the heart of the Tibetan quarter. In the afternoon, explore the captivating neighborhood, the Barkhor District. It is a traditional shopping street situated in the center of Lhasa and a place where Tibetan culture, economy, religion and arts assemble. Visit a Tibetan’s family and taste home-made Tibetan foods and drinks.

Day 5 | Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Gyantse (B, L, D)Top

This morning, drive to tour the Yamdrok Lake, also known as Yamdrok Yumtso, one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. The winding road up to the mountain is bumpy yet exciting. The beauty of Kambala Pass (16,500ft) will overwhelm you as well as the deep turquoise shade of the holy lake from the summit of Kambala Pass. Proceed to Gyantse Town. Once the third largest town in Tibet, Gyantse offers a rare and beautiful glimpse of Tibetan rural life. Visit the Palkhor Monastery, a huge temple with a unique history and a wealth of Buddhist art. It is notable for its superb Kumbum, the largest and spectacularly well preserved chorten in Tibet, crowned with a golden dome and still containing thousands of wonderful murals.

Day 6 | Gyantse - Shigatse - Lhasa (B, L, D)Top

Travel to Shigatse city by coach in the morning. Serving as the capital of Tibet for a period between the 16th and 17th centuries, Shigatse is the second largest town in Tibet and home to Panchen Lama. Visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama who is the chief spiritual authority of Tsang region. Founded in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, Tashilhunpo means in Tibetan "all fortune and happiness gathered here" or "heap of glory". The Monastery is well known for its biggest Gold-Gilded Sitting Buddha in Copper Amitabha. Travel back to Lhasa in the afternoon. Free time in the evening.

Day 7 | Lhasa - Chengdu (B, L, D)Top

Fly to Chengdu in the morning. Check into hotel and have a good rest followed by a local cuisine lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Giant Panda Research Base and see the adorable pandas! This place is the “home sweet home” to pandas, and has been researching and breeding the giant but cuddly animal for two and a half decades. Relax in a local Tea House tasting local snacks and experiencing the real local life. Enjoy world famous Sichuan Spicy Hot Pot in the evening and then watch the exciting Face Changing Show.

Day 8 | Chengdu - Beijing - Hometown (B)Top

Wave goodbye to your unforgettable far-eastern adventure; take the flight to Beijing then connect your international flight back home.
